As Lawmakers Shun Okorocha’s Directive To Toin APC . **all the 6 APGA legislators who decamped to APC earlier goes back to APGA. **PDP controls Majority In the Imo House of Assembly. **APC have no legislature in Imo House. The Imo State House of Assembly yesterday commenced legislative proceeding after failure to seat for days following disagreement over alleged directive by Gov Okorocha for lawmakers elected on the APGA to defect to the APC. It was learnt yesterday that the directive created tension among the lawmakers as they vowed to remain in APGA, the platform the governor won his election in 2011. Sources disclosed that members of the House insisted to remain adamant over the directive, saying that they would resist attempt to coerce them to dump APGA for APC. It will be recalled that former PDP members, including the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, defected to APGA in 2011 to enable the governor have majority supporters in the House. It was, however, learnt that the six APGA lawmakers, who had earlier defected to the APC with the former PDP members, had decided to return to APGA, alleging that they were misled to join APC. With the decision of the lawmakers to return to APGA, PDP would control simple majority in the House. “This is what Governor Okorocha and members of the APC are afraid of, that is why they want to do everything possible, including coercion, to ensure that the lawmakers defect to APC.” When contacted, the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Media, Mr. Emeka Ahaneku, said that no lawmaker had defected to APC. He said: “For that to happen, it will be done on the floor of the House for it to be significant and for legislators’ votes to be recorded. “The House remains as it were and members are yet at least in the House to openly defect to the APC.” - Hope For Nigeria.
