B&W Challenge Day Four This December 2013 image was taken at BeX Bar & Grill during a Cervantes Band performance. My instincts told me to go high contrast all the way on this. The face is the story here. Being a bassist myself, one of the things Ive always loved about this image is how the brick background emulates the rock solid dependability that a good bassist can bring to the party. The first edit I settled on was Lr B&W Look 2 preset and boosting the contrast further in key areas other than the face. I thought the face was perfect just as it was, I couldnt find the original image file, so I started with an early Lr effort that I published last year. First to go was my logo followed the three nail heads on the DJ stairs in the lower right using the spot removal tool. Then, switching to the adjustment brush, I increased the exposure on the hat to bring out the cool little streak of light. Same thing for the pickups and the bridge to bring a bit more pop to the instrument itself. Lastly, and again using the adj brush, I increased the contrast on the upper and lower areas of that beautiful hand-painted silk tie and the guitar strap to give them the definition they deserve.
