B4 Winter Cricket. The travelling cricket roadshow that is B4 this week traveled to a windy Marchant 7. After last weeks washout we reverted to a 35 over game - finally I won the toss and no sooner had the coin settled I boldly declared we would have a bat. The decision was vindicated when Ross Green(18) and Paul Cook(11) got us off to a good start. We lost our first wicket at 47, but unfortunately we lost the next two on 48! Robin Darwin(29) and Zac ZJ Jane(22) steadied the ship and took us to drinks 3-88. On resumption we lost a few more wickets before Ben Jane strode to the crease and launched a few bombs in top scoring with 32. I scratched around for 23n.o. and at the end of 35 overs we finished on a competitive 192. The only othe notable contribution came from Xavier Tras with plenty! After an early breakthrough the opposition didnt make life easy with their remaining opener (who snorks later recruited for summer) looking very dangerous. I was pleased though with Ross and Philip Calcutts openning spell and they didnt get away from us. I thought I would test the hypothesis shit gets wickets and brought myself on for a roll, It was confirmed almost immediately when Phil took a screamer at cover and the danger man was gone. I picked up another 2 and from the other end Dean Zammit (3-31)grabbed one to have them 5 for 85 at drinks. After the break Snorks grabbed 2 more before the opposition fought back with a good partnership after we spilled a few chances. I came back on and grabbed another sneaky wicket to finish with 4-20 before Zac(2-31) took 2 in 2 ball to end the game with him on a hatrick. The opposition bowled out for 166 in the penultimate over. So we maintained our winning ways in what was again another good team effort, roll on the B-train - get on board
