BACK PORCH OBSERVATION If believers in Jesus continue to live in sin as merely saved sinners, (a term not seen in Scripture), Jesus died in vain. The Law could provide for that. While all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), those who are in Christ do not continue to practice a sinful lifestyle (1 John 3:6). When a believer sins, it is to be quickly repented of and not repeated (1 John 2:1-2). To claim to be a believer and persist in disobedience is inconsistent with Scripture (1 John 2:3-6). There is hope! Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon (Isaiah 55:7).
