BACK TO THE ISSUE OF...SALT! Considerations: 1. Every cell of your body needs salt. Don’t try to eliminate salt from your diet. Every cell of the body requires salt to function. The body loses salt through urine and sweat, and it must be replaced. It is good to include a high-quality unrefined sea salt in your diet to replenish the sodium, trace minerals and electrolytes the body needs. Salt deficiency, so easily avoided, can be the cause of serious diseases. An eight-year study of a New York City hypertensive population evaluated for their sodium intake found that those on low-salt diets had more than four times as many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets. -- align life 2. Type of salt consumed. Table salt is the type we have to minimise or totally avoid (it still contains Iodine). Himalayan Rock or Sea Salt is recommended. Great if you can get hold of this. Amazingly, it is the kind of sodium contained in Spirulina Filipina. Miraculously or not, Spirulina Filipina produces this salt within its body even though it is cultured in very alkaline waters. Remember, Spirulina Filipina originated from the sea which, needless to say, contains a lot of salt. 3. Sodium must be balanced with Potassium. This is a big problem. How much of the potassium foods should you eat and how much salty foods should you eat? Lots of guesswork here. Dont worry. Spirulina Filipina contains both minerals in proper ratios. Case closed with regards to salt. Many have been fooled and have suffered the consequences of the blanket advice to cut out salt completely. Many of the elderly have suffered and passed on before their time because of this misleading and disastrous recommendation. alignlife/articles/cardiovascular/eating_too_much_salt
