BAD SPANISH ALERT! This time on Hell On Wheels in the “Life is a Mystery” episode, the Mexican who was chasing the bad guy spoke Spanish with a very strong American accent. The actor was clearly miscast. His Spanish was barely passable but his American accent was so strong I had to wonder why he just didn’t speak to the American in English. PRODUCERS- if the script calls for a Mexican who can only speak Spanish then cast somebody from Mexico. Don’t cast somebody who can barely speak Spanish and who does so with such a strong American accent that the role is not believable. If you want to see good casting of Spanish speaking Mexicans or Mexican-Americans, look no further than The Bridge. The Bridge has great casting. I am very disappointed with Hell On Wheels. Not only is an acquaintance, Anson Mount, the lead in the show but until this specific episode, all the art direction and historicity has been on the money. The miscasting of a Spanish speaker is offensive to me and a black eye on the production quality of the show.
