BALANCE IN LIFE Most things that we need to be self-sufficient - TopicsExpress

BALANCE IN LIFE Most things that we need to be self-sufficient have a monetary price tag. Food, shelter, and clothing are requirements that we should provide for ourselves via work. The price of these basic needs vary in degree, but usually cost us something. Still, a good portion of these things remain unaffordable for many people of the earth. It is true. It costs to live on this planet and we must provide ourselves with the daily necessities of life through our earnings. This is a simple fact of life. Conversely, some luxuries in life are priceless and not for sale for any amount. Let’s list a few. Think about your allotted lifespan, the ancestors you inherited, your immediate family, the song of a robin, the scent of new mown grass, the loyalty of a pet, the sun, the moon, the stars, the air you breathe, the ground you walk on, the water you drink, the friendship of a loyal person, the taste of favorite foods, the scent of a lilac, the sight of a double rainbow, the sound of your child’s voice, and the touch of a feather. In an instant, anyone could lose the opportunity to experience these things through illness or death, but they are sensory jewels given to us by the Creator to allow us to experience joy without cost each day. Money and financial security are nice to have but without the equal distribution of the abstract goodness life has to offer anyone would be truly bankrupt. Little things do mean a lot. Consider whether or not you would want to live with all the wealth in the world, but not have access to the joys of living. I would think that you would not. So, as we weigh the cost effectiveness of living, let’s consider the beauty, wonder, and richness that life offers to each one of us daily. Instead of demanding more of ourselves as we work, why do we not demand more of ourselves as we live? Free time is necessary and renews our instincts to survive. Life without a positive attitude toward living is no life at all. We need balance and the wisdom to know when we have depleted the resources in our energy storehouse. Once renewed through downtime, vacation, recess, or play we can begin again to offer the world the richness of our talents and resources. If not renewed by taking time for ourselves we become resentful, embittered, shallow, and like a well that has run dry. Before this happens, make certain that you are balancing your life so that the joy of living shines through in your daily work. Balance in life is the key to long term positive results.
