BALANCE MUST BE THERE There is the mistaken notion the Law of God, the Ten Commandments are not applicable for man today. What was given to God’s People “before” the cross is not applicable to God’s People “after” the cross raises all kinds of concerns and would present a God who is two-faced, and this could never be. Many Christians today fail to understand one particular verse in the Bible which would resolve this conflict and would have all Christians on the same accord; however, because of their dislike for Judaism and their even more disdain for the Old Testament, they miss this verse and as a result will miss heaven! It is found in Daniel, “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Dan 9:27 (KJV) I had one brother who read this verse use it to justify the incorrect view Christ died on Wednesday, being the “midst of the week”! If those who believe in the so-called sanctification of Sunday would properly understand what Daniel wrote, it would demonstrate to them their misplace understanding of the Scriptures; but, alas, this unveiling of prophecy will remain as by the few verses at the end of the book, “And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Dan 12:8-10 (KJV) Here, it is made plain those who continue to persist in their “wickedness” would not understand these words, even “till the end of the time”, which does not imply the “end of time”, but the time remaining between the “time of the end” till “the of time”, which we are living today. Yes, I know, even this will sound confusing to some, but not to those these matters have been revealed. Review with me verse 27 and see what it says, “…he (Christ) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…” We know Christ’s ministry would be for one week. One week equals 7 days, or years, in prophetic language. We know His Ministry began in 27 AD and He died in 31 AD. The total time was three and one-half years, or the “midst of the week”. We also know by reading and comprehending this verse when He died He would “cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.” In other words, there would be no need for man to satisfy the requirements of the penalty, “death”, for breaking the Law of God, for He would have paid the penalty. However, nowhere does it state the “Law of God” would have served it’s purpose and is no longer credible for us today. Because nominal Christians do not fully understand this verse, in fact, many don’t even know it is written, THIS is where the evil notion of God’s Law no longer binding upon man is centered. The sacrifices came to an end, not God’s Holy Commandments as evidence at the 9th hour when the High Priest was to make sacrifice the lamb for the Passover escaped for the first time because Christ had ended those things and the Judaical system of sacrifice was desolate or meaningless. Friends, just as the system of sacrifice became no longer meaningful, as evidenced, too, by the rending of the veil which separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place, the system of Sunday worship is meaningless because it is not based upon any Scripture or practice by God’s People “before” or “after” the cross. With God there has always been a balance. There will be one people saved, not two groups. There will not be those “before” the cross having done anything different from those “after” the cross. We would have both been keepers of God’s Law. Both of our penalties would have been served, by Christ, so whether Israelite “before” the cross or Christian “after” the cross, our relationship to God and His to us is the same. January 8, 2015
