BALTIC NEWS SEVICE (BNS) RAIDED IN .LT. News agency reveals a Russian plot against the Lithuanian president and becomes victim of the Lithuanian state security. The BALTIC TIMES, 8.11.2013: Alvis Eglitis, foreign news editor with BNS in Latvia told the Baltic Times that the journalists had gained access to a classified document from the Lithuanian State Security Department showing evidence that Russia was planning a smear campaign against Lithuania President, Dalia Grybauskaite [...] Such scale of unprecedented procedural measures of violence interrupted BNS operations and are, furthermore, disproportionate and unacceptable. Persecution of the media is characteristic of undemocratic countries. A journalists right to keep his source of information secret is one of the guarantees of free press. BNS will exercise the right and will not reveal the source of information.
