BANGKOK, Thailand, 20 July 2014 -- Students at my Video Workshop race to finish projects before deadline. Despite the language barrier, and our time limitations, and the fact that I was introducing a methodology almost completely new to them, the workshop participants turned in some pretty amazing work. Moreover, they understand the power of my character-driven approach. I spent time on our last day reviewing some basic camera mechanics. Although they came to our four-day event with a wide variety of equipment, there are similarities across the board regarding how these cameras work. So we spent time on issues like different channels of sound, white balance, neutral density filters, iris and shutter speeds for proper exposure, gain.
