BANK OF ZAMBIA JOBS - 11/19/2014 JOB TITLE: Specialist – Gender THE INSTITUTION The Bank of Zambia is the Central Bank of the Republic of Zambia. It is responsible for the formulation and implementation of monetary and supervisory policies that will ensure price and financial systems stability so as to promote balanced macro-economic development. The Bank of Zambia, an equal opportunity employer seeks the services of suitably qualified Zambians to fill the following vacant position in the Strategy & Risk Management Department: SPECIALIST – GENDER (BOZ 6) (1 POST) Job Purpose To coordinate the formulation of appropriate gender mainstreaming strategies and interventions, which arc aligned to the Bank’s strategic objectives to promote and sustain gender mainstreaming across the bank and Financial Service Providers. Main Accountabilities 1.Initiate the review of the Gender Policy and attendant responsive strategies, guidelines and activities to promote the mainstreaming of the gender agenda. 2.Formulate Gender Action plans (GAP) and monitor their implementation. 3.Promote the adoption of appropriate gender performance indicators and tools as part of the Banks gender advocacy and social monitoring system. 4.Monitor implementation of the Bank’s Gender policy and associated gender mainstreaming activities to generate gender-positive, transformative outcomes and impacts in the bank and financial sector. 5.Develop mentoring and leadership programmes to promote gender-positive impacts in the Bank and Financial Service Providers. 6.Carry out gender analysis to generate sound evidence and justification for the promotion of gender equality in policies, operations and other practices in the Bank and other institutions with which the Bank has mutual interest. 7.Build and maintain a network of gender experts and /or multilateral organizations to ensure that the gender mainstreaming efforts of the bank are aligned with best practices. 8.Conduct research on emerging gender issues to influence policy design and implementation in the Bank and external stakeholders. 9.Provide technical input and guidance on gender issues in the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of lender Programmes at the Bank of Zambia. 10.Produce regular reports for management and stakeholder information and decision making on gender related issues. Qualifications and Experience ◾Degree in Social Sciences plus MSc/ MA/MBA in Gender Studies or equivalent with 5 years’ relevant experience. ◾Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) 0 Levels (Credit or better) Key Knowledge & Attributes ◾Gender analysis and research skills, conducting gender impact assessments and/or designing and implementing gender and development projects; ◾Advocacy and Marketing skills ◾Creative and Innovative Strategic thinking with Integrity ◾Problem solving skills ◾Strong written and verbal communication skills ◾Team player ◾Good people skills ◾Familiar with public sector management trends and issues in the African Region, and in SADC countries in particula CONDIIONS OF SERVICE Bank of Zambia Conditions of Service will apply.
