BARNET MOVE FIVE POINTS CLEAR Barnet beat Eastleigh 1-0 to go five points clear at the top of the Vanarama Conference table on Saturday. A first half goal from on-loan striker Sam Hoskins earned Bees victory at The Hive. Hoskins almost gave Barnet the perfect start but after his half-volley had struck the post, the Bees found themselves evenly matched against the visitors, who have slipped down the table in recent weeks. Michael Green and Jamie Collins had opportunities to put the Spitfires in front, but after those openings had been squandered, Barnet took advantage by taking the lead on 37 minutes through Hoskins, whose deflected effort from 20 yards found the back of the net. In the opening moments of the second half, Andy Yiadom drove narrowly wide after being set up by John Akinde, and his side nearly paid for his miss when Collins wasted a headed chance from close range. Chances were few and far between, but while the score remained at 1-0, Eastleigh remained competitive. However, they almost found themselves further behind with 17 minutes remaining when new boy Alfie Pavey fed Lee Cook, but the midfielder couldnt add his eighth goal of the season. Adam Mekki and Akinde both struck the woodwork in the closing stages as Barnet pressed for a second, but one was enough to see them extend their lead at the top of the table to five points. FC Halifax Town suffered their first home defeat of the campaign as Altrincham stunned the hosts 3-1. Town had previously kept seven clean sheets from the first thirteen games so far this season, while, Altrincham had only picked up a point on their travels so far. Altrincham took the lead through Nicky Clee in the 34th minute. Altrincham extended their lead in the 75th minute through James Lawrie before substitute Kyle Perry further extended his side’s lead just 4 minutes later. The home side hit one back in the 82nd minute - a lofted corner was met by Marc Roberts at the back post who headed into the centre where Scott Boden rose well and nodded the ball in for his seventh goal of the season. FC Halifax Town remain in second place in the table, despite this set-back. Torquay United overturned a half-time deficit to record a 2-1 victory over Wrexham and move into third place. In a frantic opening 10 minutes at Plainmoor, both teams had chances to take an early lead, with Toby Ajala pulling the ball wide for Torquay before Blaine Hudson did the same at the other end for Wrexham. However, as the game began to settle down, it was the visitors who looked the more threatening with Manny Smith having a header strike the post, and their pressure paid off just before the half-hour mark as they took the lead. Louis Moult charged down a clearance by keeper Martin Rice before keeping his composure to put the ball into an empty net for his sixth goal of the campaign. Wrexham pushed for a second after the restart, with Wes York going close after being teed up by Connor Jennings, but Torquay equalized on 62 minutes when Louis Briscoes low effort beat Daniel Bachmann. The former Mansfield Town winger almost netted a second shortly afterwards but on this occasion, Bachmann was equal to it, and Wrexham survived again with 10 minutes left when Luke Young struck the post from a free-kick. However, Young made amends for that miss by giving Torquay the lead with 6 minutes left with a strike from 25 yards that hit the inside of the post on its way into the net. Wrexham pushed for a late equaliser after 6 minutes were added on, but despite their best efforts, the Gulls held on to extend their unbeaten home record to seven games. Woking are now fourth after a stunning 5-2 win at the Merseyrail Community Stadium against Southport. The Cards got off to a great start by taking the lead inside the opening 5 minutes when Scott Rendell headed in a Theo Lewis cross. And that was it for a first half that was fairly evenly contested. But just 7 minutes into the second half Woking doubled their lead with Lewis finding the net from just outside the box. Port responded 2 minutes later when Matt Challinor set up David Fitzpatrick to beat Ross Worner. But on 65 minutes Woking restored their two-goal cushion with a free-kick by Giuseppe Sole. Nine minutes from time Southport reduced the arrears to just one again with a header from Luke Foster from a Stephen Brogan cross. But less than 2 minutes later it was 4-2 with another Rendell header from another Lewis cross. And 2 minutes from time Rendell completed his hat-trick when Foster brought down Josh Payne and the well-travelled striker converted the resulting penalty. Three goals in 6 second half minutes saw Gateshead come from behind against Braintree Town to register their first win in five matches at the Internationbal Stadium. Jordan Cox put the visitors in front after 35 minutes when he fired home from close range. Carl Finnigan eventually levelled for Gateshead in the 69th minute from Andrai Jones cross before Phil Turnbull put the home side ahead from 20 yards 3 minutes later. Jon Shaw completed Gatesheads second half comeback 3 minutes after that with his impressive strike that sealed all three points. Bristol Rovers missed the chance to move in to the top five when Tom Murphy struck a last-gasp equaliser for Dover Athletic at the Memorial Ground. The home side led when Adam Cunnington turned Stuart Sinclairs shot past Andy Rafferty from close range after 35 minutes. Dover began the second half well and Christian Nanettis long-range effort forced a superb save from Will Puddy. Rovers looked set to hold onto their slender lead until Murphy volleyed in Tyrone Sterlings cross in the final minute of normal time. Macclesfield Towns unbeaten home run continued but they were held to a draw by Forest Green Rovers at the Moss Rose. The visitors went in front after 11 minutes as Elliott Frear got his first goal since a summer move from Salisbury City, finding the net from the edge of the box. Paul Lewis equalised 7 minutes after half-time as he headed in Waide Fairhursts cross, and provider turned scorer as Fairhurst put the Silkmen in front from long range with 17 minutes to go. But Lee Hughes 25-yard effort 5 minutes later ensured Rovers left Cheshire with a point. A wonder goal from Andy Todd earned bottom-markers AFC Telford United a much-needed point in a 1-1 draw at Aggborough against Kidderminster Harriers. Kidderminster created plenty of chances, and took the lead right on half-time when Aman Verma headed in from close range. Telford had created very little until late into the second half, with Sean Cookes header well saved by Daniel Lewis in the home goal. And then in the 79th minute Todd found the top corner from 20 yards to earn struggling Telford a point. Dartford had to settle for a point after Grimsby Town scored late to snatch a draw at Princes Park. Tom Bradbrook headed the Darts in front on the hour-mark but the home side were reduced to ten-men when Nathan Collier was sent-off for conceding a penalty which Lenell John-Lewis scored with 7 minutes remaining. But despite conceding late, this was a point gained for Tony Burmans men, who defended doggedly in the face of serious pressure in the second half. Aldershot Town bounced back from their midweek defeat at Dover Athletic to secure only their second win in eight matches against Alfreton Town at the Electrical Services Stadium. Sam Hatton fired the Shots into the lead after 33 minutes with a low free-kick after Alfretons Luke Graham had fouled Brett Williams outside the area. Dan Bradley wasted a chance to equalise, heading over when unmarked just six yards out. But Jaydon Gibbs wrapped up the win for the home side on 63 minutes, rifling in a right-footed effort past Cameron Dawson. Lincoln City slipped to a poor 2-1 defeat at Liberty Way against Liam Daish`s Nuneaton Town. Boro took the lead on 30 minutes. The Imps had been guilty of giving away too many free kicks in dangerous areas and Nuneaton finally capitalised on one. Lee Fowler delivered the ball in and it bobbled straight through and into the back of the net past a bewildered Nick Townsend. City pulled a goal back on 39 minutes. Ben Tomlinson was hacked down on the edge of the box. Sean Newton delivered the free-kick and Tom Miller was unmarked to head home. On 68 minutes City were further behind when Adam Dawson blasted a ball from 30 yards out and it beat Townsend. City tried to respond, but in a scrappy game they struggled to get forward. When they did they often found their efforts into the box failing to beat Reis Charles-Cooke in the Nuneaton goal. Tyrone Marshs injury-time equaliser earned a draw for Welling United at the Swansway Stadium against Chester FC. The hosts broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Craig Mahon tucked the ball past Wings `keeper Jonathan Henly from the edge of the area. Welling started the second half brightly but they could not find a way past Chesters resolute defence until the dying moments of the match. Marsh got on the end of sub Malachi Hudsons pass to head past Chester `keeper Jon Worsnop.
