BASIC NUTRITION GUIDELINES REGARDLESS OF GOALS: -Try to eat between 4 and 6 meals a day -Substitute poultry or fish for red meat -Drink half of your body weight in water per day -NEVER skip breakfast -Reduce carbohydrate intake as day progresses -Minimize dairy, sugar and wheat -Eliminate "whites" -Eat a diet high in fiber (fruits, vegetables, and some grain) -Use cooking spray instead of oil (if you use oil, use olive oil) -DO NOT DRINK your calories -Stay away from soda, fruit juice, high calorie coffee drinks, etc. -MONITOR PORTION CONTROL!! -Limit how much you eat out
