BATTERED WIFE SYNDROME IN ZIMBABWE POLITICS Over the year, we have had repeated conversations with Zimbabweans of all walks of life about political decisions that we have made and directions we have taken. The main theme has been that it is better to be abused in a political set up than to chart your own path. The party name is seen as a political totem that should never be shaken lest the political ancestors bring you political misfortune. The leaders they ironically having been political usurpers at one point –scratch their epiphany in God like terms in wordly newspapers,books,pamplets ,facebook,whatsapp etc . They elevate themselves and political processes into mystical Godly origins that they only can produce . They have choir boys who turn them into modern day deities. Their most singular “fart” is described as sweet incense suitable for the most holy of tembles. The products of their rule smell and smell to high heaven.They bring misery and abuse to citizerns in huge doses but we are told to soak it up reward is in the future or in heaven. Take your time stay in there , be abused with dignity. At least you have a surname ;look at the single mothers they seat with the youths in church. This you hear not from the man in the streets , but of course from Doctors , who I gather will soon be professors as everyone is now getting those .Can someone tell me what is the merit of Joice Mujuru taking these insults that even a Zim-dancehall artist high on weed can not conjure up –so now she is wearing miniskirts –she is luring man.We refused to take those insults once they rose in our party. We declined to dignify those political processes with our presence and boy we do not regret that decision for one bit .My comrades Mudzuri , Chamisa took the abused wife syndrome route. The hope was that it would pay off and it did , in the reverse .The husband did not stop the beating , despite loud and desperate shrills that he was God given. The result a fellow politician describes another as like his “Son “so why should the son complain when the belt is brought to the butt. The advice of course is to eat humble pie maybe just maybe the future will be kind. A political culture that adores victims will not get us anywhere. The village bully smells blood and knows no taboos. A popularity that is directly proportional to one’s victim-hood breeds exactly that a nation of victims .A line surely must be drawn – A stop must be put –A cat must be belled. The question is , who must bell the cat??.The irony being a faction full of war veterans , soldiers , business men of fierce repute is wilting in the glare of a woman and 90 year old man. And those comrades were our liberation war heroes ???.
