BAWA CATERING SERVICE Every morning Adi loads up his trusty motor bike with a mixture of rice, chicken, vegetables and eggs and head out to feed the many who are waiting. I call this daily ritual, the BAWA Catering Service - breakfast delivered daily to your door or rice field which ever you prefer! The food must be good as over 200 dogs day patiently wait for the familiar sound of the motor bikes horn to ring out – which advertises the arrival of their gourmet breakfast. No one complains about the service as it is excellent – lovely fresh good delivered daily in all kinds of weather – they’d be “mutts” to say anything bad about this – they know a good thing when they see it. I had the pleasure of accompanying Adi on a feeding run on Tuesday, along with Mawa and Adhi, BAWA photographer. I felt like the junior waitress in a very busy restaurant on my first shift – I couldn’t get the meals out quick enough to the hungry patrons and some of their manners left a lot be desired with one even sticking his head in the bucket to make sure he got every last tasty morsel. Then as we were about to leave and go to a local temple a stroppy young man who had slept in arrived putting his front leg in the bucket to pull it down to ensure he got his share - I told him he needs to set his alarm next time! On a serious note though, without this wonderful feeding program in the local villages these dogs would starve – whilst many of the dogs are “community dogs” and don’t have a specific owner, some of the dogs do but their owners are poor and cannot afford to give the nutritious food they require to stay healthy. Donations are desperately to keep the feeding program on the road and not just in the area that Adi services. If you would like to make a donation to keep this vital program alive, please make a donation via our website - balistreetdogs.org.au – you can use Pay Pal or make a direct deposit in to our bank account – details on the website – and make the comment for feeding program. All donations received will be passed on to BAWA – every donation helps – thank you.
