BAYELSA FIRE SERVICE: CHALLENGES The Bayelsa Fire Service is being revamped by the Governor Seriake Dickson. The administration has procured fire fighting vehicles, bought 4th Ranger Vehicles; staff training and renovation of the complex, there are some challenges facing the Service. Some of them are outlined below: 1. The Need for more fire stations: There is only one fire service station at Amassoma, which is nearing completion. The Fire Service needs more fire stations. 2. As the state is expanding, there is a need for more fire fighting vehicles. 3. There is also need for training and retraining of more staff 4.Completion of the renovation work at the headquarters of the fire service and building of a befitting headquarters. 5. Procuring modern fire fighting equipment such as: fire delivery hoses, foam chemical-especially for extinguishing burning petrol. The existing ones are obsolete. 6. The entrance of the Fire Service Bay also needs renovation 7. Others are ICT equipment, Walkie- Talkie and furniture.
