BAYHAM ELECTION RECOUNT? Will Arlow of Straffordville filed court papers Friday to contest the validity of this fall’s slection in Bayham. Mr. Arlow has lived in Bayham since 2003, is self employed and was not a candidate in the election. Mr. Arlow told TANews today he is contesting the accuracy of the count and the results, especially in Ward 1 where there was only a difference of seven votes. He pointed that there were far more votes for mayor and deputy mayor than for councillor amd thus “the ballots are irregular”. He maintains that as a result, “a portion should be declared spoiled.” He also said he believed the instructions on the ballot were “confusing and invited tampering.” Commented Bayham Clerk Lynda Millard: “I’ve never done a recount before for Bayham or Vienna” and added “the ballot format in Bayham is prescribed by the Province.” A court hearing will be held on January 5 in St.Thomas.
