BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya -- The Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) has put up at least four initial Skills Registry Systems (SRS) projects in the province to assist job seekers for local and overseas employment. The local government –based SRS projects were already established in the municipalities of Solano, Villaverde, Aritao and Sta. Fe to cater to employment demands and requirements of local and international agencies and companies, said Engr. Henry Balangatan, DOLE district officer-in-charge. The SRS project is one of the important components of employment facilitation for both local and overseas employment opportunities. It aims to establish and maintain a continuing nationwide manpower skills registration system to enhance the databank of manpower supply that can be easily accessed by clients, to harmonize database of DOLE including its attached agencies such as the Bureau of Labor Employment (BLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Regulations Commission(PRC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education(CHED) and to strengthen the current system of register of labor demands from employers. Balangatan said the launching of the initial SRS projects were highlighted by the awarding of a computer set, equipped with the SRS software operating system to the recipient LGUs. "This will serve as a repository device of the SRS database which will be maintained by the LGU’s Public Employment Service Office(PESO) through the support of all barangay officials considering that they are the support arm of the project," Balangatan said. SRS project, he added aims to saturate all LGUs nationwide to strengthen the establishment of a national manpower register of skills as a means of providing adequate and available supply of labor when needed.
