BBC NEWS HOUR & AD DUTCH NEWS | Yesterday when I returned to Amsterdam to meet Dikriyo, he hands me his phone. BBC News Hour, do you have time for a few questions for tonights programme? Hahaha, talk about being put on the spot. Some of you might have heard me last night on BBC radio. We also did two stories for AD, the Dutch newspaper linked here. Never thought Id get quoted in Dutch. The current story is that after Somali hiphop-against-violence group Waayaha cusub spent 10 years building a Somali peace campaign using music and outreach to persuade youth to turn away from violence and extremism, escaping the war and surviving multiple attacks, now the Kenyan government turned its back on them and refuses to protect them, and finally even the Netherlands government has forcibly separated them to different sides of the country while waiting for their asylum process, obstructing their ability to continue their campaign to reduce violence in Somalia and Kenya. Stay tuned for our coming documentary, Live From Mogadishu. (If you would like to help Humanitarian Bazaar on its project helping refugees from Somalia, Kenya, Syria, and Afghanistan, go here to learn more. Thanks to the entire Somali community, Rory Peck Trust, Cultures of Resistance, DS, JY, AO, TK, AG, and others who have already helped on the other refugee cases. ==> humanitarianbazaar.org/action-urgent-appeal-direct-refugee-assistance/)
