BBC Radio Drama Radio Drama North Our popular Turn Up The Talent is an event which provides a platform for local writers to profile their work. Whether you are a new or established writer, this informal event is THE place to showcase an original piece of drama or comedy to a live audience, which will include BBC producers and talent scouts. An extra special event is planned for the next showcase on Wednesday 23rd October 2013 at Media City UK. BBC Radio 4’s commissioner, Jeremy Howe will be offering words of writing wisdom as he launches the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award 2014.* For our Turn Up the Talent Showcase we are looking for exciting, original writing which works well in a short drama slot. The script should be maximum 8 minutes long, contain no more than three characters, have no technical requirements and no or very minimal handheld props for a script-in-hand performance at the showcase by local actors . If you would like your work to be performed in the Turn Up the Talent showcase then you should submit a short drama, monologue or comedy script to [email protected] by 10am on Monday 23rd September. Only entries emailed to this address will be accepted. Only one script per person will be read. *We especially welcome entries from writers who have submitted scripts to the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award (ABBA) in the past and two slots will be set aside for previous Alfred Bradley Bursary entrants. Please include a note of your ABBA entry Title and year of entry with your short Turn Up the Talent script submission. The Alfred Bradley Bursary Award, run in partnership with Radio Drama North and the BBC writersroom, aims to encourage and develop new writing in the North. It is an amazing and unique opportunity where you could win a bursary and have your work produced on BBC Radio 4. This biennial award was set up to commemorate the life and work of Alfred Bradley, the distinguished BBC Radio Drama Producer.
