BBC iPlayer mobile audience reaches all-time high BBC iPlayers mobile usage has reached an all-time high, with table and smartphone viewer figures now almost on par with the size of the desktop audience. The catch-up platform served 261m requests in October - a year-on-year gain of 23% - 37% of which were from mobile devices, and 39% on computers. The BBC announced that there are more viewers taking in television programming on mobile devices than desktop PCs, a trend that is on course to extend to radio content. Bad Education and Some Girls, which premiered on iPlayer, were the most-watched shows on the platform, followed by The Great British Bake Off, The Wrong Mans, Atlantis and Waterloo Road. Premier League and international football topped the most-watched list in the radio category, with Nick Grimshaws Radio 1 Breakfast Show and The Reith Lectures among the other highlights in the top 10. BBC iPlayer saw an average of 7.8m daily requests in October, with weekly requests peaking at 57m in the first and last week of the month.
