BDL Race Report Another cracking turnout of Harriers for the second BDL road race of the season from Ilkeston Rugby Club. There were thirty-one runners on the starting line, out of 308 finishers, just beating the number of runners at Teversal in the previous race. Over a fast flat out and back course of approximately 5.25 miles and a strong field making it a fast race, the Harriers performed well to record fifth in the ladies, fourth in the mens and sixth in the combined team event. Our first finisher once again was Alex Cook finishing 13th while Ed James and Alan Billington made up our first three runners. It was good to see Mark Riches back after missing all of the cross-country season through illness and to have both Charlotte Dye and James Rudzynsiki making their Harriers debuts. Theresa Hempsall lead our ladies team home and she was joined by Jane Armoush, Rosemary Arris, Rachel Clark, Helen Brunt, Clare Cooper and Linda Simmonds. The remainder of the Harriers were Dave Horton, Trevor Wilson, Krishna Mahadevan, Andy Watson, Simon Edwards, Andy Marsden, Tom Jackson, Malcolm Weir, Steve Meath, Zach Naylor, Sean Ollier, Simon Hackett, Rob Pearce, Andy Nash, Andy Dakin, Len Foulks, Chris Jackson and Rob Terry. Thanks also to Amer Armoush and Tim Boursnell for coming over and helping with the recording at the end of the race. The full results will hopefully be on our website shortly. Well done to all our runners and there were a number who would have been very pleased with their performances, so make sure you make it to the third race at Denby on Tuesday June 10th which Belper Harriers will be hosting. After the race, in the Rugby club house there was the presentation of trophies and medals from the cross-country season. The Harriers had a particular good winter picking up third place in all three team events. We also had a number of individual members picking up age category trophies for finishing in the first three. These were Theresa Hempsall, Rosemary Arris, Jo Caborn, Geoff Lowry and we believe Trevor Wilson when it is checked out. Once again well done to these runners. Malc
