BE A PEACE AMBASSADOR; BALA URGES FCT RESIDENTS ON EID-EL-FITR FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to be peace ambassadors as exemplified by all during the month of Ramadan. Senator Mohammed emphasized that peaceful conduct of all residents during the Ramadan should transcend beyond the holy month by creating atmosphere that would promote unity in diversity across the country. The Minister who gave this advice in his Eid-el-Fitr Message on Thursday in Abuja also congratulated Muslim faithful across the country, especially those residing in the Federal Capital Territory on the auspicious occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Senator Mohammed reiterated that it is only through peace and stability that Nigeria can achieve sustainable development in all spheres. He further urged residents to continue to preach the gospel of peace as well as be their brother’s keeper. The Minister remarked that the preceding holy month of Ramadan is an inspiration to Muslims to show compassion, mercy and kindness to their fellow brothers and also advised that they should not miss this opportunity to at least put a smile on the faces of others. He urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the lessons learnt during the month of Ramadan and continue to imbibe its teachings that are primarily premised on selflessness, sacrifice, patience, modesty and spirituality. Senator Mohammed enjoined Muslims to use the period to pray for the nation as it strives to become one of the best twenty developed countries of the World. He also called for prayers for the success of the country’s leadership under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for Allah to continue to guide, protect and give him the wisdom to steer the affairs of the state and actualize the Transformation Agenda. The Minister assured that President Jonathan is assiduously working with the security agencies to create an enabling environment in and around the country that will guarantee peaceful co-existence amongst all Nigerians which no doubt, has yielded positive results. Senator Mohammed guaranteed the residents of the Territory adequate security of their lives and property; noting that that all security outfits in the Federal Capital Territory are effectively prepared to be on top of any unexpected security breach during and after the festive period.
