BE A TEAM PLAYER/LEADER There is a leader in you. Stir it up! It’s been said that more progress is made by a pat on the back than a slap on the hand. This is true in education. Far more learning takes place through co-operation than through competition- I’m not saying health competition isn’t good, in fact I encourage it- when students are charting their own course and devising ways to make top grade in exam, there are only winners and losers. On the other hand, when a team of students work together on a problem, exceptional learning takes place and everyone can win, some contribute facts, others logic and still others creativity, some excel in presenting the result through graphics and other through oral presentation. The team approaches the work. What seem impossible for you to do alone suddenly become simple when tackled by a group pulling in the same direction. “No man is an island; entire of itself” John Donne writes “everyman is a piece of the continent” To achieve your goal, extra-connect yourselves to those whose steps are certain- mentors, tutors, predecessors and so on.
