(Amplified Bible) Isaiah 32:17 above makes it clear that righteousness produces peace in us and gives us ability to be able to confidently put our trust in God forever. Therefore, you must always be at peace regardless of the life circumstances that you might face. The peace of the Lord surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Righteousness is the nature of God. It gives us the ability to stand in the presence of God without fear or any sense of inferiority or condemnation. It is available to us through the substitution work of our Lord Jesus Christ. You cannot grow or increase in righteousness, but you can grow in the consciousness of righteousness. This makes the communication of your faith become effective and productive. Righteousness is a free gift from God to all born again believers of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 10:1-4 and 2 Corinthians 4:1). It is important to realize that since we are born of God we have the nature and attributes of God. God gave birth to us with his nature (righteousness) and attributes (the fruit of the spirit). Righteousness is not based on our inability to sin. Galatians 2:21 “I DO NOT FRUSTRATE THE GRACE OF God for if righteousness could come by the law, then Christ died in vain”. 2 Corinthians 5:21 “for he has made Him sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him”. We need to understand that we are born again, we have the nature of God – we have access to the God kind of Life. Animals, trees and other living things have their own kind of life. The life span of a mosquito is different to that of mortal man, the life span of crocodiles is different to that of maize plants. If we are the sons of God, then we should have the same quality of life, the failure proof, defeat proof, depression proof indestructible life of God. The peace we have as a result of receiving the gift of righteousness guarantees our having this quality of life. There is nothing in our make up called sad faith, ours is a life of joyous faith ( see below Romans 14:17,Psalm 5:11) Romans 14:17 [After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Psalm 5:11”But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” The God kind of life is a joy filled life. Joy is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Joy is not happiness. Happiness is more of a feeling, a temporal emotion. Joy has permanence. Make up your mind to always pursue making peace with others in accordance with God’s Word. However, Do not compromise doing God’s Word for the sake of having peace with other people. 1 Peter 3:11 Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts and seek it eagerly. Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them! (Amplified Bible) Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it!
