BE FAITHFUL Armageddon was very close, but of course no one knew Brothers led their lives, without the faintest clue. Oh they knew this was the season, the world would be done away They just didn’t know what year, what month, week or day. Brother John Smith, his wife Becky, children Bill and Marylou Were part of the great crowd that hoped to see all things made new. When the tribulation broke out, it started like any other day John went to work, Becky service, children school and play. As John was shuffling papers, a stir came from the office Radios and TV were turned on, it was quite a ruckus. What was so important on this worldwide TV The United Nations was declaring “Peace & Security” John wondered “is this really it, is this the world’s fate?” He tried to finish his work but couldn’t concentrate So he went home and found Becky holding the children tight Crying in some far off way, watching the TV light They said: “The U.N.’s calling a council, “make sure peace & security stick” Eliminating all nuclear arms and “religious politics” “Each nation is responsible for making religion fall Destroying synagogues, churches, temples and all the Kingdom Halls” Becky’s face lost it’s color, she couldnt even speak John had to find a chair, his legs were feeling weak The children were getting apprehensive, their mouths dried like cotton Everything was coming true, everything their parents had taught them Their whole outlook changed, nothing else seemed the same Forget parties, dating, dances, sports or even fame Forget fighting with mom and dad about cars, clean rooms, haircuts About missing meetings, field service, grooming, dress or make-up All those things, yes all those things are so unimportant now What is important? Before Jehovah we must bow Brother Smith and his family then fell upon their knees They prayed to God Jehovah to help them, yes OH please! To give them strength, endurance, in this hour of greatest need To help them, give them courage, for these things they did plead With renewed confidence, faith and trust to face the trials ahead They knew the place of refuge, by Jehovah’s hand they’d be let Then the phone rang and John answered, it was the PO Get your emergency contact list his said, call everyone you know Don’t miss anyone, let the friends know what’s coming down We received instructions from the branch, we’re going underground From there everything happened so fast, a nightmare could describe What brothers & sisters went through as they kept their faith alive It climaxed one fateful day for Brother Smith’s family They saw a mob come crashing through their door, all of them shouting angrily “Are you Jehovah’s Witnesses?”, they grabbed them by their hands The Smith’s couldn’t deny their God, so they firmly took their stand John was slammed to the ground and his wife the same way When he regained consciousness, his Becky beside him lay She said to him: “Be faithful to Jehovah, and do not give way to fear” With that she closed her eyes in death and John’s face brimmed with tears His children now beside him, they wanted to know what to do To be among the brothers was the right thing he knew So quickly to the meeting place that had previously been assigned They found a place of refuge and to Jehovah their prayers inclined Once again they heard the sound of an angry mob drawing close Down came the door and in came the mob, seeking God’s people to dispose As they drug them out, they could see the dark clouds unfolding The moon then darkened and the thunder roared, these sights they were beholding The ground swelled, shook in display a terrible gallery Of all the wicked people who were killed by the angelic cavalry There in front on a magnificent white horse, leading the heavenly charge Our king dressed in brilliant light, thrashing his sward large John held his children close, frightening darkness neared Then it was over—the fury passed, all the dust had cleared Peace and quiet was everywhere, buildings destroyed – all And there in the far distance stood a solitary Kingdom Hall Brothers and sisters gathered there, John his children too Everyone praise Jehovah for getting them safely through They all then started to do the work of restoring the planet earth They labored long but Oh what joy, when to a paradise it gave birth Then one joyful morning they heard the news from above The resurrection was starting of all of all the ones they love There were4 people of all sizes, shapes, colors and ages, hugging one another But try as he might, John couldn’t find his own children’s mother But then in the midst of the crowd, he recognized the curve of her face It was the same beautiful girl of his youth, toward Becky he raced They hugged and kissed and hugged some more It was truly the happiest day of all, who could ask for anything more? From here on henceforth, his name shall be praised from the mountain tops From wondrous cascading water falls and over bounteous harvest crops From spacious green valleys and plains that reflect his love Praise his name all you people….
