BE IMITATORS OF GOD - EPHESIANS 5: 1 – 10 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (vv.1,2 KJV) Some younger people do say to me; they never prayed their homes be like that of their parents’. These people never wished to experience the torture of the noise and battles of their parents. The issue of who is the role model for another should be of great concern to us all. This is because; there are several media where people and acts are projected. I learnt recently that the youth and teens of this age learn and copy more from the visual and social media than they learnt from parents and older people. The big issue here then lies in the fact that the information and events on these media are difficult to be censored and they traveled faster. I believe the Holy Spirit knew this was going to be in the latter days when He inspired the writer of this letter to minister to the people of the Ephesians church and have it documented for our use in these days. But let me ask, who do you pattern your life after? Who is your idol? Irrespective of what goes on among some parents; in organizations or in the different media, the supposed children of GOD should know better and are commanded to be imitators of GOD the Father rather than of any other. Our earthly fathers and leaders may fail in meeting up with GOD’s standard; remember we are admonished here that GOD is the faithful One to be imitated and that we live in love. We might not have seen God, but we have an expression of HIM in Christ Jesus. Maybe today you see the short-fall in your life as GOD’S child, repent and ask for GOD’S mercy to help remold and restore you in HIS way. Pray for sanity in our society. Ask that the LORD help us with faithful, loving and God-fearing leaders and followers.
