BE ON YOUR GUARD IN THE SUPERMARKET WITH THESE INSIDER TIPS! Todays tip comes from our Savings Forum! The Forum is the main hub of the Simple Savings community. Its always buzzing, always friendly and always full of the latest ingenious ways to save. Once you set foot in the Forum, youll never want to leave! But when one of our lovely, helpful members decided to post her supermarket insider tips this morning we decided they were just too handy not to share with everyone! Thank you for sharing Tinker - were sure the rest of us will be keeping all these in mind when shopping from now on! Since I have started working in a big supermarket I have noticed a few things and thought sharing the following might help someone: * Dont do a weekly shop on a Tuesday night - this is the night all the specials change over and you may get caught between the old and new specials and miss out on both! * Keep a price book. I have been especially shocked at how many items change price even on a weekly basis. Its amazing how many items go up that you dont notice, even if its only by 2c. The highest I have seen is a $2 increase overnight! * Dont listen to the stores slogans. Things that are staying low or down may do so for a while but then they may go up again without advertising. * The store special tags on the shelves in the bottom corner have a date in small print - this is when the special or price will change. * If something is on special and its not on the shelf ask for a rain check. If they cant give you one, make sure you express your disappointment - you may get a voucher for money off your next shop! * The whole store is designed to make you spend more. Layout, displays, music, lighting - EVERYTHING. Dont let the end items draw you down the aisles. Stay focused at all times! Thank you Tinker, we really appreciate you sharing your secrets. Does anyone else have any sneaky supermarket tips they would like to add?
