BE RENEWED AND FLY HIGH........ Today I am drawn to this verse in Isaiah; Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles (Isaiah 40:31) There are so many reasons why this verse is so powerful, the promise of new strength for those who wait on the Lord tells not of more of the same kind of strength that we rely on to deal with things as we always have but new strength... a different kind... strength that comes from Him. In receiving this new strength I realise I need to be first renewed in Him so that this new strength my grow in me and become the fuel and energy on which I run.... In Matthew 5:17 Jesus says.... Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” So to benefit and truly be filled with new strength as I wait on Him...I must become new in Him as said in 2 Corinthians 5:17.... Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Sometimes this process of renewal can seem harsh and hard as God takes away the old and replaces it with the new. Sometimes we want to hold onto the old familiar things, habits, people, processes because they seem familiar and easy to deal with. Yet if we are to receive new strength, then we must allow our souls and spirit to be renewed in Him. Allowing Him to do so in the belief and faith that He will fill our new wineskins with new wine...fresh wine that comes straight form the throne! If He pours His spirit into what we were before we knew Him, then like the wine in old wineskins it will indeed pour out and be wasted. We need to be renewed in Him to really benefit from His gifts in Us! The best thing is we dont have to do this ourselves, we just have to open up and let Him renew us!!! Then there is the promise that those who wait will mount up with wings like eagles. In the greek translation the word used for mount up in this sense is a verb meaning to rise, lift up, to fly upwards like a bird into the sky. It speaks of a wilful option to shoot upwards, knowing we can fly !!! We know that the eagle only has to flap its wings for a short time as it rises. Its wings are strong and incredibly powerful. As it rises and reaches the heights, it knows to spread its wings and allow itself to be carried on the wind currents, trusting in the ability of the wind it cannot see to bear its weight and carry it where it needs to go! There is something so powerful to me about putting these images together... When we wait for the Lord for the things we desire, the things we need, He will renew us, fill us new strength, equip us with strong wings and then we like eagles, spread our wings and soar higher and higher in His love!!!! Today I am spreading my wings....I know I have to lift off in faith....I know I have to work to flap as I do but I also know that as I take off...His wind will carry me higher and that the higher I get, the closer I soar to Him, the stronger the currents of His grace and love will be beneath my wings and I can spread them out and let Him take me where I need to go! I am renewed, I am made whole in Him, filled with new strength...new wine...living water...grace beyond measure.... So are You.... Today I pray you find that new strength in Him...I pray that as you wait on Him for the fulfilment of your hopes, you feel the presence of His holy spirit in you as He renews, refreshes and revives you and that as you do...you spread your wings in faith, rise up and soar high above all your challenges, all your disappointments, all your sorrows and let His grace be the wind that carries you towards Him and His kingdom...In Jesus name.
