BE WISE, DON’T ACCEPT EVERYTHING UNTIL YOU KNOW THE SOURCE Jesus paused during one of His public ministrations and asked a question:- " Have ye understood all these things?". They say unto him, Yea, Lord ( Matt13:51). At another occasion, it was recorded that for lack of courage, His audience could not ask for clarity although they did not have full grasp of what He shared(Mark9:31-32). Understanding is crucial in every interaction / communication and surely Jesus would oblige to repeat/playback what He shared with them until it had sunk deep in their minds & hearts to positively impact individual and collective lives . We are living in times where ineffective communication could be as costly as a trip to the moon. Yet, an information-driven world required wisdom with Spirit-inspired mind to discern, not to be deceived, therefore get the information, analyze it critically and follow with the appropriate line of action. Prov24:32 says - "Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction". The people of Berea were considered as intelligent and noble as compared with the believers of Thessalonica(Acts17:10-11)because the Bereans would not clap their hands if the message were shrouded in lies, trickery, ‘insult to their intelligence’, intended to siphon their hard won reputations and resources ( from the sweat of their labor). Conversely, the Thessalonians would be offended if whilst they clapped cheerfully, their brothers from the other divide, sat less amused. Don’t get worried if you know you are on course because you are the redeemed. In the days of Jesus, His disciples, surely got offended because news trickled in that His beloved friend - Lazarus was sick and on the verge of death. I am sure that the disciples’ intransigence forced Jesus to change His earlier statement that ‘ Lazarus is sleeping’ to ‘Lazarus is dead’. Do we take cue from this?, don’t forget about Hezekiah or Abraham who caused God to reverse His decisions. Jesus thought me a profound lesson that if even his closest associates made unlearned, baseless propositions or mistakes, He did not (for brotherly sake) shield them, why should I keep mute if wrong stuff is finding its way into the Church? – Gabbage in !!. He bluntly admonished or corrected them(Mark9:38-40, Luke9:51-56). You cannot convince me with cosmetic urges to support humanly inspired schemes. In John 6:22-27, the Lord anticipated what the minds of the group who followed Him were and swerved them. He could only help them when they asked Him the way out because atimes, it could spell doom if you give pre-emptive idea to people who are entrenched, who will laugh at you behind the scene. In this dispensation where God is testing us by the motive of our hearts(Matt18:35), you cannot convince me that God’s blessings are tied to geographic locations – a mountain top experience in worship which does not count because faith in Jesus makes you blessed & powerful – John4:20-26, 1Pet1:5. Will you tell me that my electronic transfer of a huge money to support God’s work is of little/insignificant value compared to physical presence at an altar, which basically is a convergent point for instruction and harmony in the assembly of saints?. For administrative convenience and accountability sake, for Christ inhabits and at the centre of the least plural(TWO/2) and from that central place, prepared to release virtue to a child hiding at that corner minding his own business, play’g with toys not minding Jesus at all (Luk18:15-17). The work of God by the Holy Spirit, like those days is not in the sway of scholastic intolerance coupled with fanaticism, but in the grip of Jesus who is constantly monitoring, evaluating and giving competencies to individuals, what the Church would require to achieve His mandate. Thank God for the Church, the solution to all the problems of these times. Thank God for the sweet savor like the salt we constantly apply to food, giving us the victory & preservations we look forward to seeing manifest(2Corin2:14-15). Stay Blessed.
