BEACH VOLLEYBALL SA OPEN STARTS TOMORROW Beach Volleyball hits Glenelg tomorrow and Sunday as Australian stars compete for the SA Open title. The SA Open is the longest running Beach Volleyball competition in Australia and is a leg of the National Tour. The Womens draw features 2012 Olympian and number one seed Becchara Palmer who is paired with 19 year old Victorian Stef Wieler for the first time and is excited about this weekends event. We are looking forward to the challenge, the 2012 Olympian said. Its always great to have competitions at home leading into interstate competitions. It helps us get our eye in and get a feel for one another in a tournament setting. We are really excited, its the first time well have played together, but weve been training this week and getting better each session. The conditions this weekend will be challenging but we are looking forward to it. In the Mens draw former Loxton locals Zachary Schubert and Hamish Moore are the number two seeds. Schubert has suffered a knee injury for the past 12 weeks but makes his return tomorrow, something he is excited about. SA really is one of a kind so saying that Im looking forward to playing in the SA open is an understatement, Schubert said. Having been injured for the past 12 weeks Im really excited to be playing and look forward to getting a win. Hamish and myself attended the same school and have played together only on one other occasion, so energy between us is buzzing. Hamish and myself competed in a local beach tournament last month, where we went undefeated taking first place and were looking to win the SA open as well. The SA Open features some strong beach volleyball teams from around the nation and the partnership of number one seeds Bo Soderberg and Malachi Murch will be hard to beat. We are excited to compete this weekend and look forward to playing some of the best teams Australia has to offer. Sponsors Myles Pearce Sells Houses, Life-Live it Up and Sportspower have been fantastic supporters for the event which offers a $3,000 prize pool. There two divisions on offer - on Open and Under 19 - both will be an elimination event. Centre Court will be next to the Glenelg Jetty and action kicks off at 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday.
