BEGINNING TO BUILD: IRC CAMBUGNAY I first visited this IRC satellite site in Cabacungan about two months ago and the climb up through a steep, rocky path that at times were nearly vertical is to say the least very trying. This community of about fifty families has to have most of its needs carried by porters up this difficult path including their drinking water and of course their rice. There is still no electricity in Cambugnay and the road leading near the cluster of homes where Pastor Jessmar Murillois building the IRC Center is difficult to negotiate with any vehicle but my mini pickup truck loaded with a few bags of cement and GI roofing made it up the rocky road Saturday morning which is a different route than the climb that we undertook with Pastor Steve and sister Claire (she is a missionary from Bermuda who will soon labor with an Aeta community in Guimaras) which by the way is another path than the steeper climb on my very first visit. It was such a difficult path that Tita Bading turned back after a short distance. Pastor Jessmar together with his wife Lynn has been serving this community for a few years now and he has finally decided to build: a very visible expression of his commitment to this community whose needs are great. Another IRC community is taken into the fold and the permanent presence of Pastor Jessmar will spell the difference. With IRC Cambugnay, the IRC vision of transformational community development continues to unfold. IRC is movement...only by the grace of God.
