BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD!.... A centuries old Middle- Eastern custom is the dedication of sheep to God...Because God has a claim on all possessions, lambs are dedicated to God even before they are born...In early spring the choicest lamb, chosen and called Gods lamb receives loving care...During late summer or early autumn, the lamb is sacrificed...the blood of the lamb is applied to the head of the person presenting it...The meat is shared with the people at the place of sacrifice... Johns audience would have realized the importance of this metaphor used by John the Baptist BEHOLD, THE LAMB OF GOD....Isaiah also portrayed the Suffering Servant...Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter or a sheep before the shearers, He was silent and opened not His mouth....Christ the obedient servant would follow His destiny even to the Cross... Charles Spurgeon once said It is the preachers business to cry out Behold the Lamb of God...For this reason was John the Baptist born and came into the world...His chief errand was to herald the Messiah, the Son of God...Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world...John also wrote that in the beginning the Word was made flesh...The Word became flesh to be a sacrifice for sin like a lamb without blemish, Jesus the Son of God had no sin... We may rise up tomorrow if we are spared and go into this busy world without any fear...But the broad arrow of the King is set upon us in the blood mark of the atoning sacrifice and we are safe...The Lamb of God came into this world for you and for me...He was born for us...He lived for us and He died for us...He did everything for us to set us free from sin...He died so that we can have life...And not only life but life abundantly and life eternally...Let us behold Him in all of His glory...Blessings my friends...Avafu (in memory of my beloved parents)...H.I (servant of the Risen Lord)....
