BEIJING GALA: AN ENCHANTING NEW WORLD OF FUR FASHION November 4, 2014 The Beijing night was clear and crisp on November 4, 2014 as guests gathered in the T-Space Gallery in the Museum of Urban Planning in the city’s Chaoyang District. The 300 plus attendees were representatives of media organizations, the international and domestic fur trade and government officials. The evening began with a cocktail reception that was a networking wonderland. All the while cameras were flashing and television crews were bustling about with fashion editors conducting interviews with the many VIPS in attendance. On cue, the melodious strains of “A Whole New World” beckoned guests to enter the show area. There were many gasps as guest entered the show area revealing a 35 meter catwalk in a setting that promised a unique performance. Rob Cahill, Senior Vice President – Marketing, welcomed all and expressed delight that at this moment there truly was “A Whole New World” for the fur industry emerging in China. “The evolution that is occurring in the Chinese fur industry is one that is challenging but also rewarding as, it will make the trade stronger in the future.” Prior to the start of the fashion presentation NAFA honored buyers who purchased the Top Lots of Mink, Fox and Wild Furs in the 2013/2014 auctions. Representatives of the companies were invited on stage and presented with the Top Lot award. Their brand logo was prominently displayed and on the 4 meter x 5 meter video wall, providing a perfect backdrop. As the lights slowly dimmed, anticipation was high and the first energetic notes of music clearly indicated that this was to be a fast paced, high energy show. The mix of NAFA Mutation Mink from the Shulan Collection was first on the catwalk and featured hooded swing coats in natural shades of blue iris, sapphire and white. The magnificent mutation mink of NAFA was seen in the highlights of the collections of local brands Huasi, Robert Girme, Yingdak, Green Noble Madam, Lin Jin and Yinafei as well. Offering the latest trends from Korea was the country’s premiere fur brand Jindo. The feeling was ultra contemporary with light weight coats and vests in combinations of NAFA Mink and Fox. European designed fur fashions added another dimension to the show. Guifuren Fur Square of Harbin featured an exclusive grouping by Victoria Kazant and another by Jung Dou in an extended palette of natural NAFA Mink. The inspirational collection of Marie-Helene offered soft feminine silhouettes delicately crafted in NAFA Pastel Mink and Dawn Glow Fox. Avanti received tremendous applause from the crowd for the stunning group of NAFA Northern Lynx Cat that floated down the catwalk. Prominent international fashion designers added further elegance to the evening. Offering exclusive pieces from their collections were, Gianfranco Ferre, Italy; Michael Kors, USA; Guy Laroche, France; Farley Chatto, Canada; and Avenue, Russia.
