BEIJING – A Chinese public servant being investigated for corruption was caught with almost $32 million in his home, an anti-corruption prosecutor said Friday. It was the largest amount of cash seized from an individual since the foundation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The Xinhua news agency cited Xu Jihui, head of the anti-corruption department of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, as saying the money was found in the residence of Wei Pengyuan, former deputy director of the National Energy Administration’s coal sector.
