BEING DECISIVE The only way you can have a bad day is to do the wrong thing in a bad way – all day! My understanding of a self-starter is the person who needs no supervision and mysteriously succeeds almost without explanation. Of course, that’s the observation from the outside looking in. We throw the word ‘luck’ around like its critical to our vocabulary but most of us don’t believe it to be a viable source of success. I was fortunate to get my start in life working for a great company called the Fuller brush company. Years before, the owner had developed a system that built the company into an enterprising giant. It was a door to door company and was based entirely on a salesman who was willing to knock on a hundred doors and show three hundred household products each day. When I say show product, I mean we had to demonstrate those products, explain how they worked and then ask the prospect to buy. Luck never played an important role but following the program did. I do not know of a single person who went to work for our company who failed when he stayed on the track provided by the company. The work wasn’t easy but success was automatic when we followed the formula. Every time we experienced a sales slump all we had to do was go back to the plan and sales would be immediately restored. The only way you could have a bad day was to do things in a bad way all day. When we worked the plan, the plan always worked. It was a lesson well learned even though through the years I have had to re-learn it many times. Knowing what to do and being determined to do it is two completely different subjects. Life is not difficult – WE ARE! The MOST important decision we can make is to fix our attention on the bottom line playing out in our favor. Winning is not determined after you cross the finish line. The thought of losing must never be entertained. When we do the right thing good things will happen. BEING DECISIVE I John 5:4…this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. To let things happen as they may is called accidental Change requires purpose and must be intentional Very few things in life are determined by destiny When good things occur it requires the best of me Success requires someone to make a decision It all starts with one person who has a vision Stuff doesn’t happen because we happen to hope Motivation begins when we push the envelope Value is decided when someone decides to buy Giving up and throwing in the towel will never satisfy Set your goal, don’t waver, and refuse to be denied Victory is more grit than gift – its’ what’s inside Results are a consequence of what we see The trick is to get someone else to agree Effort is essential – results are never free The seed is first sown and then comes the tree Every game has a winner – sadly there’s just one Often the winner is decided before the game is done The fate of another is his to win or lose If we win, it’s only because of how we choose R.L.
