BELFAST SOLDIER BURIED IN BAYEUX, FRANCE. Thomas Ireland who lived at 5 Stanley Lane, Belfast and was the husband of Margaret and father of seven sons and three daughters. He served as a driver with the Royal Army Service Corps, 282 General Transport Company, and died on Friday 11th August 1944 at the age of 44 in Normandy, France and buried in Bayeux War Cemetery. He held the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and 1939-1945 War Medal. {{the black and white photos are by Charles Edward Ireland, grandson of Thomas.}} The photo of Thomass headstone in Bayeux was taken by myself and my son placed a poppy token on his grave.
