BENIN CITY- The Commissioner of Police, Edo State, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo yesterday paraded 32 suspected criminals, bringing to 92, the number of persons so far paraded by the state Police Command, in the past six weeks. The suspects were paraded in Benin City for various criminal offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearm /cultism, stealing, car theft, rape and defilement. The commissioner of police disclosed that the suspects were arrested at different hide outs across the state. According to him, their arrest followed a tip-off by operatives of the command, and covert investigation. He reiterated the command’s readiness to make Edo State uncomfortable for unrepentant criminals. Those paraded for kidnapping/armed robbery yesterday included Peter Thomas, Efosa Okungbowa, Monday Igubor, 38, Victor Ogieriakhi, Sunday Ujiagbe, 33, Osato Samson, Blessing Isolor (F), 37 and her father, John Isolor, 64. Others are Akilo Adamu, Peter Nosa Uhunwangho, Felix Omokaro, Abubarkar Abdulahi, and Junior O. Ogbemudia, 40. Items allegedly recovered from them included one locally made double barrel short gun, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and a Toyota Corolla Car. Marked Dz 382 Ben belonging to one of their victims. Some of the suspects denied involvement in kidnapping but however admitted to have participated in car theft. Also, Saturday Nurem, Mantu Joseph, Ifeloju Amatoni, Musa Gabriel, Towei Gbadiya, Kabiru Omogbai, Abubakar Mohammed, Okpara Hope, Sunday Eromosele, Stanley Idogho, Atuma Sylvester, Stephen Osigwue and Ogbe Felix were paraded for unlawful possession of firearm/ cultism, armed robbery, rape and stealing. The police boss further stated that one Saturday Cole (35), Segun Oteru (42) and Pastor Eze Fedelis (47), at different times and at different locations separately defiled three girls of 11, 12 and 13 years respectively. Though some of the suspects confessed to the crime others denied their involvement. Commissioner Adebanjo stated that all the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations. It would be recalled that 60 suspects were on two different occasions paraded by the command before newsmen in Benin City.
