BENIN SUPER STAR - JAH BABA Oladipo ABIALA as called as Jah Baba is a singer and Sound Engineer from Benin Republic (West Africa). Born in his village called Pobè, he is of Nigerian origin as well. The artist inherited his musical background from his late granny and then, from his beloved father. From that heritage, Jah Baba remained highly attached to his culture and ancestral roots that his beloving grandmother upheld so dearly. Coming into music world is not by a mere chance. This is mainly due to the legacy he received after twenty years of carrier full of experiences. Jah Baba’s music is a mixture of Afro-jazz and Afro-gospel. In the footsteps of his parents, the Benin Jazz man draws inspiration from the cultural values of his country. Dearly rooted in tradition, he devotes a special place to Africanism through his music. Thus, we can read from his first album a mixture of Africanism, gospel, jazz and world music. An album of fourteen songs untitled ARISES (Arise means: it is time for Africa to grow). With Arise, Jah Baba had put his entertainer into thrill on that Sunday of 24th April 2011 (Easter Day) at the Launching Ceremony in Cotonou. As an instrumentalist, Jah Baba mixes tradition and modernity. His habit of playing drums like Batta and Gangan demonstrate his attachment to the tradition which include devotion to divinities like Oro and Guèlèdè which are particularity played in his native region, source of his typical singularity of inspiration. Jah Baba han an ambition: Popularize his works through the continent. This opus is a Jazz mixed with Gospel and he is inviting you to discover the artistic talent embedded in him as a musician made from a real mixture on Benin and Nigeria Origins.
