BENNET & THE OAK TREE Once upon a time there was a thirteen - TopicsExpress

BENNET & THE OAK TREE Once upon a time there was a thirteen year old boy named Bennet. Every day for over 10 years, Bennet stared at the large oak tree in the front yard, knowing one day he would be strong enough to climb it. Finally, after several months of training at the Texas Rock Gym, that day had arrived. Using a homemade climbing system consisting of an old dog tie-out cable he found half-buried in the yard, he scrambled up the tree in under a minute. Victory! That triumphant feeling would be short-lived, however. His expertly-crafted climbing system snapped in half when he attempted to climb back down. The ground rushed up to greet his outstretched arm. Bennet learned that his arm is capable of bending in all sorts of contorted ways he never thought possible. Fortunately, it was a Saturday, and Bennets mom had nothing planned that day. The only thing going on in her life at the moment was that she was preparing to take a group of 30 people on a 10-day tour of the British Islands Monday morning. Oh, and she also had a Sunday School lesson to prepare for Sunday. Nothing going on at all, really. 20 hours later, Bennet and his mom are back at home after an exciting adventure that included a local emergency room, a pediatrician consultation, and an all-nighter at Texas Childrens Hospital. The bad news was that it was a nasty break and required general anesthesia to set it properly. The good news is that it appears he wont need surgery and will be able to travel to Dublin tomorrow. And thus concludes the exciting tale of Bennet and the Oak Tree.
