BERITA KOPERASI(THE STAR ONLINE 26 MEI 2014) Save up to 30% if you shop at Co-operatives 1Malaysia SIBU: Consumers here can save substantially if they shop at the Co-operatives 1Malaysia (COOP1M) distribution centre where prices of goods are 20% to 30% lower than those sold elsewhere. Koperasi Elite Berhad chairman Penghulu Ten Kim Loong, speaking at the opening of Kooperasi Elite Sibu Berhad at Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman here yesterday, said some items were selling at prices as tagged in the peninsula. “This is made possible as all transportation charges are borne by the Government,” Ten explained. He said freight and handling charges were also paid by the Government for those sub-distributors making an order exceeding RM5,000 from the main distributor “This is to maintain same price throughout the country,” he added. The centre was officially opened by the Economic Affairs Officer of the Malaysia Co-operative Society Commission, Beraim Hossen. The centre’s opening should benefit those shopping for Gawai, Ten said. “We specially thank the Government for appointing our company as the main distribution centre for COOP1M products in the central region,” he added. Beraim, meanwhile, said COOP1M products should help reduce the cost of living of the lower income group in the country. He said since such shops were set up in the country, they had been well accepted by the people due to their competitive pricing.
