BERLIN Its well over a week since a patch of blue sky has been spotted... the whole of Germany has been clogged by a never ending blanket of grey. Tonight our happy, but probably vitamin D deficient throng were playing the Max Schmeling Sports Arena... a massive concrete gaff with walls so thick that even Motörhead at full tilt werent audible from the sanctuary of our dressing room bunker. We had a good gig with no gear issues that I can recall - but Mr Vanian thought the audience reaction a little lacklustre and asked in his best sarky Geography teacher voice if they were still awake at the back.... while I pretended I thought I was in our usual Berlin venue - the considerably smaller SO36 Club, asking since when had it been refurbished? Which probably fell on deaf ears, but we amuse ourselves with these little comments - not for us all those rock cliches like do you feel alright or its great to be back in (insert current location), or coming out with the same anecdotes every sodding night... admittedly that stuff may indeed go down well - itd just be bloody boring for us, blah blah. Now you know me.... I could NEVER be described as a gossip (are you sure??) but Dod Morrison, our stowaway photographer has been scoffing so many of Richies calorific desserts on these dates (managing up to four a day) that he split his jeans tonight. You wanted to know that didnt you... The third band on the bill - the excellent Skew Siskin have been attempting to teach me how to pronounce their name. Theyre a nice bunch, as were their fellow countrymen The BossHoss last week - I simply dont get the antagonism some Brits still have towards our illustrious German neighbours.... some of the things that happened last century were terrible of course - but neither side comes out of any of that with their reputations remotely intact. And OUR glorious leader Winston Churchill certainly had no qualms about civilian losses c/o the hideous methodology of Bomber Harris. But its time to put all that behind us and get on with each other - as your chums the Damned have been doing this past week as unlikely punk rock ambassadors for international relations. Mehr weiss bier bitte!!
