BEST IN BICOL PHOTO CONTEST 2014 Sponsor: URAGON HOT RADIO 99.8 (uragonbicol) The contest is open to all photographers, professional and amateur alike. PRIZES: 1st: P10,000 2nd: P6,000 3rd: P3,000 10 consolation prizes (gift items) CRITERIA: 1. All entries must be original photographs taken by each contestant. Upon submitting the photographs, the contestant attests that the images are original and that they have not been previously published. Each contestant must have obtained any necessary third-party releases. 2. If the photograph includes sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close up of another person’s art. 3. The contestants are responsible for ensuring that their submission complies with the legal and copyright laws of their country. 4. Each contestant may submit up to three photos for the following categories: A. Bicol food B. Bicol tourist spots (discovered and/or undiscovered places) C. Bicol culture 5. Each contestan may submit three photos in any of the following sets: Set A: Three photos, one for each category Set B: Two photos for one category + one photo for either category left Set C: Three photos for any one category 6. The URAGON HOT RADIO BEST IN BICOL PHOTO CONTEST 2014 begins at midnight of APRIL 25, 2014 and closes at midnight of November 12, 2014 (Philippine date and time). JUDGING: The selection of finalists and winners shall be based on the following criteria: - Creativity and originality - Composition (technical excellence and quality) - Artistic merit (wow factor) - Content and persuasiveness in showcasing the BEST of BICOL The contest organizers will choose 50 entries to qualify for the final judging. Each entry will be scored by a panel of five judges, and the scores will be averaged to produce a final score. In the event of a tie of the highest score, the entry with the higher artistic merit (wow factor) score will be deemed as the winner. The judges will be drawn from the fields of industry, civil society and the arts. The names of the judges will be posted after the closing of the contest. The panel’s decisions are final and binding. The winning photographers will be notified via email before the 20th of November 2014. A list of winners will be published on uragonbicol URAGON HOT RADIO, contest web page. OTHERS: Each participant must do or have the following: 1. A user ID and he/she must have been actively participating in the Live pages forum or chartroom. 2. A Skype account where the organizers can communicate with the organizers and vice versa. 3. A Facebook account and is an active member of Uragon Hot radio group. 4. A valid ID (passport/SSS/GSIS/NSO birth certificate) for claiming the prize. Uragon Hot Radio will not accept photographs submitted via the postal services. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: The entries must be: 1. In JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format. 2. At least 3,500 pixels wide (landscape or horizontal) or at least 2,500 pixels tall (portrait or vertical) 3. Saved at 300 pixels/inch resolution. Other Instructions: 1. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. 2. Digital files can be saved as 8 bit RGB with the JPEG image compression. 3. Option must be set at quality level 8 (80%) or higher. 4. Digital photographs should be taken in the highest possible resolution. 5. Each submitted image 2should not be more than 10 MB in size. NOTE: The 50 finalists may be asked to re-submit a higher resolution file or an 8x10 professional photographic print of their entries for further promotional purposes (to be covered by Uragon Hot Radio). TERMS AND CONDITIONS By submitting their images to the contest, the photographers indicate that they have read the rules and conditions of the contest and have accepted the terms listed below: 1. By submitting your photos, you guarantee URAGON HOT RADIO that you are the one who took them; that you are the rightful owner of the photo; and that you have obtained necessary third-party releases. 2. The contest organizers reserve the right to request your copy of any personal release, location release, or artist release. 3. By entering the contest, all entrants grant URAGON HOT RADIO (uragonbicol) an irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, world-wide non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of their submitted images, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed by Uragon Hot Radio (uragonbicol) for public viewing purposes. URAGON HOT RADIO (uragonbicol) will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use. 4. URAGON HOT RADIO reserves the right to contact photographers to confirm information in the submission form or for any other purpose considered necessary. 5. URAGON HOT RADIO reserves the right to disqualify photographers who are unable to validate the information submitted on the submission form. 6. Winners are responsible for paying any applicable taxes they may owe on a prize (if applicable). 7. URAGON HOT RADIO reserves the right to cancel or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of URAGON HOT RADIO will be final. 8. Photographers whose contact information have changed during the course of the contest should notify the Contest Focal Point.
