BEST OF 2014 1. Conor Oberst - Lua (with First Aid Kit (SE) OFFICIAL and Dawes) It was the perfect closer for this years best weekend. Although we met so many bands in just three days, we still missed out a few at Haldern Pop Festival. We almost called it a day as it was already pretty dark. Conor had just played a wonderful concert with special guest First Aid Kit and Dawes as his backing band. So after the show - and just minutes before Patti Smith would go on stage - we asked him to perform a song. Conor said he would only do it if the girls from First Aid Kit would join him on the Bright Eyes classic Lua. They did. So it turned out to be that one very special moment of the year: A beautiful and never-heard rendition at a lake, after which we needed some time to understand what just happened. The website Consequence of Sound later called that performance a gorgeous rendition and wrote that the song is literally given a breath of new life, thanks to Goldsmith’s intricate guitar work and the Söderberg sisters’ angelic harmonies, we agree.
