BEWARE...........SCAM ALERT: I am just warning people about a scam that (could have) happened to me on Saturday at 5:10 pm. I received a call to my cell phone, stating that my credit card (debit card) was temporarily suspended. It was an automated call that directed me to press 1 in order to have my card re-activated. Then, it directed me to enter my 16 digit card number. I DID NOT enter my number, and NEVER would have, although, after talking to a few people about this, they said that they would have entered their number. We live in a world of panic situations and I think that if someone was out shopping and received this message, they may quickly have enter their card number because they needed to use it. Whats the worse that can happen? You get to the register, your card is suspended, and you cant buy what you had in your shopping cart. The world would not end. This is just a reminder to call, NOT RESPOND TO, your credit card company for verification. DONT use their prompts! Once again, their timing was perfect. Although 24-hour automated service is always available, most credit card companies do not have a live person Saturday evenings and all day Sunday. I can see the panic in some people to reactivate their card because they would have to wait until Monday to speak to a live person. I called my credit card company at 5:15 pm on Saturday. Their hours (if wanting to speak to a real person) were until 5:00 pm on Saturday and not available at all on Sunday. No problem for me to wait, but maybe not for someone else. My card still worked............in case anyone was wondering. When I hit redial from the number that placed the call to me, it said that the call cannot be placed as dialed. COMPANIES DO NOT INFORM YOU IN THIS MANNER. This is just a reminder to be careful.
