BEWARE of most of the major download sites for free software. As careful as I try to be, Ive been burned twice with malware from CNET, which is probably the worst of the bunch. Also avoid Brothersoft, Softonic, Freewarefiles, Tucows, and even SourceForge. They have all monetized their service with installer software that tries to install malware along with your chosen software, often without your permission. If you use any of these sites, avoid the prominent Download button and look for a tiny direct download button, if they offer one at all. Some companies have sued CNET for tarnishing their reputation by bundling malware with their software. TheWindowsClub recommends these as safer download sites: Majorgeeks (looks best to me), Softpedia, TechSpot, Filehippo, SnapFiles, fileforum.betanews, and downloadcrew. thewindowsclub/safe-software-download-sites
