BEYOND RELIGION AND CULTURE: I’ve been emotionally raped since I heard the story that the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan was stoned in some parts of the North. It’s an embarrassment and a wake-up call that no matter how Nigerians across the Niger love Northerners, they Northerners do not have regard and value for us. In everything we do, I’ve noticed that they see us as outcastes, while they are the freeborn, who must continue to rule Nigeria. This mindset is not only dense, but also, denigrating. Northerners have a way of provoking my sense of reasoning with their thick idea of reasoning on issues that require resolution. Should they be christened provocateurs? I thought they said that the most activity that was needed in 1967-70 was to keep Nigeria one? They are always provoking tears which they might not tolerate. Why stone President Jonathan? What message did they pass to us by stoning Jonathan? Let the bush that forbids basket not grow mushroom. -Odimegwu Onwumere, Poet/Writer, Rivers State.
