BEYOND SPORT ANNOUNCES SHORTLIST FOR JOHANNESBURG IMPACT AWARD In the build up to the annual Beyond Sport Summit and Awards 2014 in Johannesburg on 28th to 30th October, Beyond Sport has launched the Johannesburg Impact Award. The award will celebrate grassroots sport organisations in Johannesburg that use sport to create positive social change within the local community. A legacy to number of Beyond Sport’s global events, the successful project will join the existing network of Impact Award winners, spanning Chicago, Cape Town, London, Philadelphia and Glasgow. The Beyond Sport Johannesburg Impact Award winner will be announced on 29th October and will run alongside the global Beyond Sport Awards, supported by Comic Relief. These awards reward and celebrate projects from around the word which set out to tackle and address a number of social issues through sport. The shortlist for the Beyond Sport Johannesburg Impact Award is as follows: · Coaching for Conservation - Botswana Predator Conservation Trust · Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy - Jala Peo Foundation NPC · KFC Mini-Cricket - KFC South Africa · Sport For All - Development Franchising · The Goal - The Goal All of the above shortlisted entrants will also be invited to each day of the Beyond Sport Summit, taking place across various venues in Johannesburg from 28th to 30th October. The event will showcase leading sport-for-social-change programmes making a positive impact across the city, and provide an opportunity for sharing of best practice from around the world, with representatives of various international organisations taking part, including UNICEF, Tottenham Hotspur, Boston Red Sox and many more.
