In August 2014, 7 students from Tohoku disaster communities have participating in a 10-day program to visit New York and Boston and gain an understanding of social innovation and design thinking that drove the country’s growth. The students are selected for their aspirations to overcome the adversity of being affected by the 3.11 tsunami and become global leaders in the future. The program will provide the students with opportunities to meet with leaders and organization that are making a difference to society through innovative approaches.
