BFAR resumes theater training/workshop By Benjie S. De Yro Tuguegarao City, Cagayan July 8 (PIA) -- Fifteen new employees of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 2 (BFAR-2) are undergoing a five-day development fishery theater workshop as part of its continuing information, education and communications campaign. BFAR Director Jovita Ayson said the employees are the eighth batch of actors for the agency’s Teatrong Dagat established in 1998. Possibly the only fishery theater in the country today, Teatrong Dagat has been performing in all venues in the region particularly during special events like agricultural fairs, festivals, and town fiestas. “We have to continuously train our staff for theater arts to sustain our information campaign. So far, we have been successful in this aspect,” Ayson said. It was learned that children of fishers in Aparri town were the first members of the theater in 1998. Soon, other actors were trained on basic development theater productions including employees and scholars of BFAR.
